Left Left West

How far is too far if we miss the stop and turn back one mile

Signs read left so I turned West and just kept going ‘cause that’s where they said I’d find you.

The tender heart of a poor child plaid up with riches, good school, good mind, good car.

Yet something’s gone and it’s not emotional since there’s always something to laugh about

But it’s darkness and it’s fear, a kaleidoscope of things distort the truths oblique

“C’mon, c’mon, will you let me in?” The wild night howls but the sinner doesn’t hear, can’t see, no fear

“So it’s left, then another left. Then the far far west,” the Baker’s woman said.

“It’s left, then another left. Then the far far west.”

Make me a pillow with eastern silk and the down of the Canadian goose.

It’s left, then another left. Then the far far west.

I hope you get there ‘cause that’s when I’ll find you.
